Our SULAM Project 2022 mainly focus to promote awareness on the application of Wills or Wasiyyah as a mechanism for property management.

Background
Wills or Wasiyyah is one option of Muslim property distribution and management when the pass away. It is an instrument for estate planning provided for a Muslimapart from hibah and waqaf.
The proper definition of “wills” can be found in the Muslim Wills (Selangor) Enactment 1999, whereby Section 5 defines it as an iqrar or a promise made by a person during his lifetime with respect to his property or benefit thereof, to be carried out for the purposes of charity or any other purposes permissible by the Islamic Law, after his death.
The purpose of having this topic as our project's main focus is to raise awareness among university students and lecturers with regard to property management by way of wills. This is because when the knowledge of wasiyyah is properly used,, it not only can accelerate the process of property management of the testator but also benefit the public in accordance with the wish of the testator.

Objectives
Law of Succession & Probate [CLO 1]
To explain the principle of law of succession in Malaysia.
Alternative Dispute Resolution [CLO 2]
Analyse the methods and process of mediation and arbitration and online ADR.
Jurisprudence [CLO 2]
To apply the concepts of law, justice, and morality within the context of applicable laws and policies in Malaysia.

Justifications
To create of a proper legal framework to manage inheritance matters.
To make a better prepare of a will for it reduces the chances of disputes between family members.
Giving an opportunity for individuals to contribute to society.

Program/Event
A one-day program that will be held in UiTM Arau consisting of an hour talk, and several interactive activities such as pop quizzes, Q & A Session. There will also be an open booth for the UiTM lecturers and students to visit. During this program, we aim to raise awareness of the importance of wasiyyat in property management.

University lecturers who are also a parent, or a son or a daughter

Conclusion
By having this program, the university lecturers and students will be more aware of the mechanism for property management, particularly by way of wasiyyah. Besides they can gain more knowledge regarding wasiyyat and the benefits that can be obtained if the estate is distributed through wasiyyah.
